CELEBRATE THE 4TH WITH A BANG!

The IFA-VTD, a 10-year old organization for girls’ fastpitch softball, provides young ladies between the ages of 5 and 18 a platform through which to enjoy, learn, improve and compete at the game of fastpitch.

Hoping to instill a life-long love for the game, the group will bring the July 4th Firecracker National Championships Softball Tournament to Round Rock, July 3-5 at Old Settlers Park.

“Round Rock is an ideal choice for our national tournament for a number of reasons,” said Cindy Cowart, an executive board member for the organization and the tournament director for this national event. “First of all, Old Settlers Park is a beautiful ballpark, one of the top ten in Texas. Secondly, the Round Rock business community is extremely hospitable and inviting, teeming with a family-friendly atmosphere. Last but not least – they know how to throw a party!”

Cowart and the rest of the IFA-VTD team hope participants take away an experience that they will always remember, filled with fun, softball, fireworks and ice cream, for the perfect Fourth of July.

During the course of the competition, the teams will trade pins, participate in an all-star game and watch fireworks. The particular bracket format used during the weekend will allow IFA-VTD to crown three separate national champions within each age group.

IFA-VTD promotes fair play, teamwork, healthy competition, sportsmanship, leadership and the respect of others, while striving to strengthen the lives of those served. The group views fastpitch as more than just a game, and the Sports Capital of Texas is excited to be around its hard work and dedication and see that passed on to young girls.
