International Rugby Returns to Round Rock

Rugby is taking over Round Rock! In fact, Rugby is taking over the whole state, as Texas is the second-fastest growing geographical region for the sport. In February, the game is returning to The Dell Diamond for one of only two American Rugby Championship games played in the United States this year. The challenge will take place on Saturday, February 11th, 2017, pitting the USA Rugby Eagles against Brazil.

This is not the first rugby rumble that Round Rock has seen: In February 2016, the Eagles faced Canada as part of the inaugural tournament, where the U.S. soared above the competition with a 30–22 defeat. The Dell Diamond has been celebrated for its versatility on an international level, as well as the large voice it is able to provide to help Rugby grow in the states.

“It may not look like your typical rugby stadium, but Dell Diamond was a great home for the Eagles for a match that was a success on and off the field,” Kellie Cavalier, USA Rugby’s international events director, said, “We knew we had to bring international rugby back to Round Rock” (source).

Join Round Rock and the Dell Diamond to witness the fastest growing sport in America – you don’t want to be left in the dust.
