THE BIGGEST LOSER RUNWALK COMES TO ROUND ROCK!

You’ve seen participants show up at The Ranch. You’ve anxiously awaited the weigh-in portion. You’ve cried during touching backstories and cheered when winners saw success.

The Biggest Loser has become a true phenomenon. The sixteenth season just wrapped up, but past contestants, fans of the show and health-lovers alike are still involved with the series, especially with The Biggest Loser RunWalk races happening all over the country – even in Round Rock!

“Season 5’s Dan and Jackie Evans ran their first half marathon after they got off The Ranch and accomplished something they never imagined possible. One race turned into over 10, and in 2011, they completed over 20 half marathons combined. Other runners would thank them for the inspiration, saying that The Biggest Loser was their reason for running. That got us to thinking: Why doesn’t the show have a race series of its own? We connected with the right people, and in September 2012, in Racine, Wisconsin, we held our first race,” says Director of Marketing and Public Relations Christina Morlock.

With a lot of fan-fare in Central Texas, the Sports Capital of Texas was open to hosting a local race. Because Round Rock is familiar with the ins and outs of such sporting events, holding a race here is a win-win!

“Our hope with the Round Rock event is that participants will come out feeling inspired,” says Morlock. “I myself never thought I could run a half marathon (let alone think of myself as a runner), but when I completed my first half, I truly felt invincible.”

Just as the television show pushes people out of comfort zones, The Biggest Loser RunWalk helps runners and walkers overcome obstacles, as long as they put their minds to it. The event will encourage, motivate and inspire – and there may even be some tears at the finish line (tears of joy, of course).

Anyone can be a part of the RunWalk, and the organizers swear they won’t push anyone as hard as Dolvett does!

“We will definitely motivate you to do your best, though, without asking you to step on a scale,” jokes Morlock.

For those interested in running/walking, The Biggest Loser team highly recommends training and attending the expo the day prior to the event, where participants can pick up a goodie bag, shirt and bib, hear guest speakers, check out health and fitness vendors and even meet former Biggest Loser alumni.

“We don’t really set an age limit on the 5K or half marathon, although we do have a special one-mile fun run for ages 4-12,” Morlock says. “No matter your age, be sure to put your hands up and smile for that great finisher photo, when you cross the finish line!”

Participants can also expect an awards ceremony, where awards will be given out to the top three in each age category, and a lot of positive energy. To sign up for the half marathon, 5K or Kids One Mile Fun Run, visithttp://www.biggestloserrunwalk.com/.
