We packed our bags and set our out-of-office notifications! City Employees, Rell and Jessica, ventured to The Ruby Hotel for a staycation/vacation for the second episode of “Explore Like A Local.” This boutique hotel sits on 3.8 acres of serene landscape overlooking Brushy Creek. It is an idyllic location for a relaxing Round Rock retreat and getaway.
The Ruby Hotel is tucked away amongst nature but just minutes from historic downtown Round Rock. This imaginative destination started as a residential home built in 1961, and the same family owned it until 2014 when it was purchased to be transformed into a hotel. The hotel theme was sparked by a letter on the property during construction. It was a letter addressed to “Dearest Ruby.” The team took this letter and ran with it. They created a fictitious character and constructed design and experiential elements around this free-spirit Ruby character.
There is no shortage of charm at The Ruby hotel. Every nook and cranny has opulent design details and charisma! Rell and Jessica found distinct experiences throughout the property during their stay. They visited the gift shop, enjoyed refreshing mocktails and hors d’oeuvres at happy hour, and attempted to work out at the 24/7 fitness center. They didn’t have time to swim this trip, but a lovely outdoor pool is in the center of the courtyard.
Rell and Jessica also enjoyed their cozy rooms and breathtaking balcony views. The 39 pet-friendly rooms at The Ruby Hotel are a statement. They have bold monochromatic coloring with azure blue and Kelly green hues. The rooms are sophisticated and have vintage touches throughout. They have luxurious amenities, including walk-in showers, mini-fridges, high-speed internet, and Nespresso coffee machines.
Overall, the stay at the Ruby was superb! The aroma on the property promotes relaxation and invites you to slow down and appreciate the simple moments in life. From a fireside game of chess to birdwatching from the balcony, there is so much to discover on the property. The Ruby Hotel is truly a Round Rock gem and a must-stay spot for locals and visitors.
