It’s official: The City Arts Center has opened in the Griffith Building at 216 East Main Street in Downtown Round Rock! 

We are so excited to welcome you to the City Arts Center, a new creative space in Downtown Round Rock in the Griffith Building. With two-story-high cathedral ceilings, a gorgeous view of the paseo … and most importantly, walls and walls of ART!

Regular Hours: 

Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-6pm, with extended hours on Wednesdays until 8pm.

 New Chihuly Sculpture Shines at the Round Rock City Arts Center 

Round Rock has added a spectacular new attraction to its growing arts scene!  Beginning July 15, 2026, visitors can experience the stunning Ruby Sunstone Pineapple Chandelier (2026) by internationally acclaimed glass artist Dale Chihuly at the Round Rock City Arts Center in Downtown Round Rock.

This permanent installation is free to visit and marks the first publicly accessible Chihuly installation in the Austin metropolitan area. Whether you’re an art enthusiast, a local resident, or visiting Round Rock, this breathtaking work is worth adding to your itinerary.

 A Stunning New Landmark in Downtown Round Rock

The Ruby Sunstone Pineapple Chandelier was created exclusively for the Round Rock City Arts Center after receiving City Council approval in December 2025.

Standing 9 feet tall and weighing approximately 460 pounds, the vibrant chandelier features more than 200 individually hand-blown glass elements. A specialized installation team from Chihuly Studio carefully assembled the artwork over four days, placing each glass piece by hand.

The colorful design draws inspiration from the pineapple, a timeless symbol of hospitality that reflects Round Rock’s welcoming spirit.

“The vibrant colors and pineapple-inspired forms in the sculpture are a nod to the city’s identity and welcoming hospitality,” said Dale Chihuly.

 Who Is Dale Chihuly?

Dale Chihuly is one of the world’s most celebrated contemporary artists. He is recognized for transforming public spaces through dramatic glass sculptures filled with vibrant color, light, and movement.

His artwork appears in more than 200 museum collections worldwide, including:

•  Metropolitan Museum of Art
•  Smithsonian American Art Museum
•  Museum of Fine Arts Boston
•  Victoria and Albert Museum
•  Montreal Museum of Fine Arts

Although Chihuly has installations in Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio, this is the first permanent public installation in the Austin area, making it a significant addition to Central Texas.

The Round Rock City Arts Center opened in January 2026 inside the historic Griffith Building in Downtown Round Rock.

Over the years, the building has served many purposes, including:

•  Fire station
•  Auto repair shop
•  City Hall offices
•  Round Rock Public Library

Today, it has been transformed into Round Rock’s premier destination for visual arts. The gallery’s impressive two-story ceilings provide the perfect setting for large-scale installations like the Chihuly chandelier.

Outside the doors of our City Arts Center, you will find the Paseo. This walkable corridor connects Main Street to Liberty Ave, allowing you to easily visit Main Street businesses, Prete Plaza, and City of Round Rock facilities like the City Arts Center!
