Grab your cowboy hats, overalls and finest country duds, Round Rock! The Corner Store Country Run 5K is almost here, and you do not want to miss this event.
The Corner Store Country Run is a farm-themed 5K for the whole family; serious runners to entire family herds with strollers are encouraged to come out and participate in the run.
“Round Rock is great for this event,” said Shelly Faris, the Community Relations Manager for the 5K, “because people finish the race right on the Dell Diamond field. Our event is very family-oriented, and it’s cool that kids get to finish on the field and walk around on the grass. For a lot of people that attend, that’s what is so fun for them.”
The Corner Store Country Run 5K also boasts the “best post-race ever,” and we can definitely see why. In addition to finishing the run right on the Dell Diamond field, an entire country fair greets runners (and walkers) at the finish! From carnival games and face painting to live music and free swag from Corner Store sponsors like Coca-Cola and Aquafina, kids and parents can enjoy the fun and games of the state fair without leaving Round Rock.
The Corner Store Country Run 5K is also philanthropic in its mission.
“Over the last 2 years, we’ve raised $2.6 million for charities,” Faris said, “We are just so grateful that we’re able to do something like this and raise the money that really can make a difference.” This year, proceeds from the event will go to Big Brothers Big Sisters, Ride on Center for Kids (ROCK), and Helping Hand Home.
The Corner Store Country Run 5K is on October 9, 2016 and starts at 8:30am.
