🎤 About the Speaker: Mark Mayfield
Meet Mark Mayfield, a seventh-generation Texan with family roots in Round Rock dating back to the 1870s. Mark’s personal collection of family home movies spans back to the early 1940s, offering a rare glimpse into Central Texas history.
History runs in his blood:
His great-grandmother witnessed the famous Sam Bass shootout in Round Rock.
His grandfather ran the gas station at Mays and Main, which later became a popular gathering spot for local Domino players.
Mark is retired from the U.S. Department of State, where he spent much of his career serving overseas and in Washington D.C. Today, he lives in Temple, Texas, where he continues to explore and share the fascinating history of Central Texas.
