Penfold Theatre proudly revives its acclaimed production of Vincent, a powerful one-man play by Leonard Nimoy. This intimate story explores the life and legacy of Vincent van Gogh, told through the eyes of his brother, Theo.
Based on real letters between the two brothers, Vincent reveals an artist driven by passion but haunted by doubt. Vincent’s creative spirit and emotional struggles come alive through Theo’s perspective, offering a deeply personal look at a misunderstood genius.
The play features a stunning visual backdrop of van Gogh’s artwork. As a result, the performance feels like a living art history seminar—full of heart, insight, and beauty.
Leonard Nimoy—best known as Mr. Spock from Star Trek—adapted the script from a play by Phillip Stevens. Vincent premiered at the Guthrie Theatre in 1980 and has moved audiences around the world ever since.
Penfold’s 2026 production revives the award-winning 2023 staging. Co-Artistic Directors Ryan Crowder and Nathan Jerkins return to alternate in the solo role. Their performances earned the title Best Two Men in a One-Man Show from The Austin Chronicle, praised for their emotional depth and compelling presence.
