New year, new places to explore! Round Rock is one of America’s fastest-growing cities, and with all that growth comes new restaurants, hotels, and shops to visit during your stay. We love the rush of visiting a newly opened or freshly renovated spot and seeing what all the buzz is about! We scoped out spots that opened in 2022 and will open in 2023. Here’s the fresh list hot off the press!
Via 313 Pizza (Opened December 2022)
Pizza- lovers rejoiced when news broke that Via 313 was coming to Round Rock. The word on the street was Via 313 had some seriously delicious Detroit-style Pizza, and there was a lot of hype. We had to confirm the rumors, and after the first cheesy bite, we could verify the pizza is bomb! If you haven’t tried Detroit-style pizza, you’re in for a treat. It is a Sicilian version of pizza with a twist, and it’s baked in a thick, square-cut pan. The pizza is fluffy, with two types of cheese on the top and around the pan.
Urban Rooftop (New Renovation finished November 2022)
Views and good vibes are what you’ll experience at the newly renovated Urban Rooftop! This modern chic space is the idyllic spot for a date or a relaxing night with friends. The spacious lounge has wrap-around views of the city, plenty of seating, refreshing custom cocktails, and live music on select nights. It’s a swanky and sophisticated getaway to end your day.
Whiskey Cake (Opened September 2022)
Another restaurant that caused a lot of excitement in the city was Whiskey Cake! This restaurant serves classic comfort foods with ingredients sourced from local farms. Their dishes are fresh, flavorful, and taste like home. We ordered the deviled eggs, which were divine, and you can’t go wrong with their Smoked Chopped Chicken Salad or a plate of Chicken & Waffles. We finished our meal with a sizeable slice of whiskey cake topped with house-made whipped cream. It was a dream!
Alamo Coffee (Opened July 2022)
Alamo Coffee has two loves, Texas and a gourmet cup of java! They proudly roast and grind their coffee locally in the heart of Texas! They produce and brew high-quality coffee for customers to savor. The owner of Alamo Coffee is a U.S. Veteran, and their company is based on a set of standards that stem from his background. The standards include integrity, hard work, and a level of grit you’ll only find in a Texas-grown company.
La Concha Feliz (Opened Spring 2022)
Donut 79 has new owners and has been transformed into La Concha Feliz! You are transported to another country as soon as you step through the doors! They have authentic Mexican bread, Flan Napolitano, and plenty of pastries, including Donuts, Cinnamon Rolls, and Churros. The shop has edible masterpieces on display throughout, and in the back, you can see employees preparing handmade goodies to go out. With all the options to choose from, you’ll want to order them all!
Red Lotus Asian Grille (Opened in May 2022)
We have a weakness, and it’s tasty Asian cuisine! We are always searching for a restaurant that can whip up our favorite meals. Luckily, the recently opened Red Lotus Asian Grille serves belly-warming bowls of flavorful dishes. They have pho-nominal pho dishes, noodle bowls, rice plates, and more!
Embassy Suites (Opened May 2022)
The newest hotel addition to the Round Rock team is Embassy Suites by Hilton. They opened their doors and welcomed guests to their charming hotel in early April. The Embassy Suites delivers a comprehensive and curated experience that invites visitors to relax and relish their vacation. Some of the highlights of this property include a full-service Starbucks, an in-house kitchen with made-to-order breakfast, 17,291 sq ft of event space, and Bar Louie attached to it.
Hometown Gift and Decor (Opened April 2022)
Get the hometown feeling and shop for specialty items at Hometown Gift and Decor in Round Rock. This local boutique is located on the corner of Main and Burnet and has hand-crafted jewelry, adorable baby clothing, home decor, and one-of-a-kind gifts. They make the shopping experience warm and inviting at Hometown!
Round Rock Library– (Opened Jan 28th, 2023)
The new library is one for the books! The 66,000-square-foot space is modern and has advanced technology throughout. It has three floors with a children’s story time space, work areas, conference rooms, a rooftop garden, and a courtyard. It’s a functional and contemporary spot for locals and visitors to utilize.

Amy’s Ice Cream (Opening April 2023)
Amy’s Ice cream is an Austin staple, and we’re fortunate to have a location coming to Round Rock! We’re ready for Amy’s endless flavors and a sweet scoop of creamy deliciousness! The new ice cream shop will be in the Rock Creek Plaza shopping center at 2120 N Mays Street, also home to Tumble 22 and Via 313 Pizza!
